Staying healthy is an inside job
If you spent a year going to the gym regularly getting fit and stopped would you expect to stay as strong and athletic?
If you stopped brushing your teeth and going to the dentist, would you expect to keep a set of shiny teeth?
If you work hard dieting, losing weight and went back to your old eating habits would you expect to stay slim?
Chiropractic and the spine are no different.
For most people they think of going to the Chiropractor when their back hurts or when they have a pain in the neck. Chiropractors are great at helping people with back pain and neck ache, but the real benefit of Chiropractic care comes not from just being out of pain. The real benefit of Chiropractic care comes when the nervous system is working well.

"The Nervous system is the most complicated and highly organised of the various systems which make up the human body. It is the mechanism concerned with the correlation and co-ordination of all bodily processes and the reactions and adjustments of the organism to its environment." Gray's Anatomy
Have you ever thought about how many times your heart beats every minute, how many times have you had to think about making your heart beat?
Your nervous system controls and regulates every process in your body, lots of them you never have to think about. So wouldn't it make sense to look after the bones in the spinal cord?
I often find that pain is the last thing to arrive but the first symptom to go. Imagine a heart attack, you don't feel the arteries clogging until the blood flow is cut off and your clutching at your chest. The spine is the same, you don't feel the problems building until we have a large issue to deal with.
Looking after our body is not a new thing. We know we should eat healthy, exercise regularly. The dentist tell us to brush and floss daily. If we do everything right then we reap the rewards. Ignore the advice and we shouldn't be surprised if something goes wrong. We need to start to think about looking after our spine in the same way we do our teeth. Do a little exercise everyday to keep it strong and healthy and visiting a Chiropractor regularly for a check-up.
